Sun King Rising – Delta Tales

Sun King Rising is the solo Americana/Rock project by singer/songwriter John Blangero from Port Isabel, Texas.

Steeped in the tradition of southern rock and country soul, his debut album, “Delta Tales” was released on PeacockSunrise Records.

While not a concept album, per se, “Delta Tales” is thematically coherent. It is about the southern experience. Its songs are vignettes of love found, love lost, family, faith, historical burden, betrayal, sin, and redemption set in a southern cultural landscape. Yet, they are also universal themes.

Blangero is originally from Pittsburgh, with much of the album being produced there. He is also a world-renowned genetic scientist, who is on the front lines of the COVID pandemic.
